Hi guys! I’m back again with another post and this time I’m reviewing the Bouclème Intensive Moisture Treatment.

It’s a deep conditioning moisture hair masque suitable for all hair types but designed especially for curly hair. The Intensive Moisture Treatment is made up of amazing natural ingredients which are designed to help strengthen, rebalance and defines your curls.

I received this at the Bouclème launch with DryBy* that I went to a while ago where I had my hair styled with Bouclème products was given an amazing curly blow dry.

How to use it

The Intensive Moisture Treatment can be used in three different ways for different curl types. It can be used as a prepoo treatment (for fine loose curls), as a deep conditioning mask or as a leave-in. There are more details on the website about how to use the  product.

If you’re using it after cleansing your hair, the Intensive Moisture Treatment will take the place of your conditioner.

I’ve only used it as a deep conditioning mask. After cleansing my hair, I applied a generous amount of the product to soaking wet hair (very important that your hair is soaked). Note that if your hair is not wet enough you will end up applying more and more product and you’ll end up wasting it.

The trick is to apply it to wet hair and instead of letting it drip off at the ends of your hair, cup the excess and redistribute the product through your roots and down to your ends again. I hope that makes sense. It’s almost like recycling the product through your hair.  You should be left with a very slimy slippery wet consistency.

Once the treatment is distributed evenly, I detangled my hair using my fingers or my Tangle Teezer for thick and curly hair

It was very easy to detangle my hair once the Intensive Moisture Treatment is in there and I lost very little hair. I then wrapped my hair up in a plastic bag and then put a thin towel like the Bouclème Curl Towel over it and use a hair dryer to add heat to my hair.

I then rinsed and styled as usual with the Curl Cream and Curl Gel. Watch how I style my hair with Boucleme here.

How did the Bouclème Intensive Moisture Treatment perform?

Adding heat to my hair made alllll the difference – trust me. I tried it without adding heat and the results were just so much better after adding heat. Adding heat helps lift the cuticle allowing the nutrients to penetrate (cringe word alert) deeper into the hair shaft.

I then rinsed and styled as usual with the Curl Cream and Curl Gel. Watch how I style my hair with Boucleme here.

My curls definitely came out more defined, softer, moisturised and healthier looking.

I’ve also used it as a leave in and it left me with loads of definition. Even after I washed my hair a second time, it’s almost as if my hair retained the memory of the definition it had from the treatment so my hair was still super curly and defined.

What’s in it?

The  Bouclème Intensive Moisture Treatment is full of effective active ingredients. It’s power comes from;

  • Omegas 6 & 9 Marula Oil – shields hair against the dangers of environmental factors
  • Mafura Butter – moisturises and prevent breakage
  • Camellia Oil – penetrates the hair shaft to reduce tangling and soaks up hair in vitamins A,B,C and E
  • Prickly Pear Seed Oil – rich in vitamin E, minerals and fatty acids which helps soften the curls
  • Sea Buckthorn Oil – an antioxidant which stimulates hair growth and promotes elasticity
  • Wheat Bran  – a plant based keratin with amino and fatty acids  which improves flexibility, manageability and general condition of hair.

It’s also free from sulphates, silicones, petroleum, propylene glycol, parabens, PEGs, phthalates, synthetic fragrances and synthetic colours.

I’m really impressed with how Bouclème have managed to get such a nice slippy texture without the use of silicones.

Conclusion

All in all, this gets a thumbs up from me. It smells great, works well and with each use my hair feels healthier and healthier.

It costs £26 for 250ml which is pricier than other curl masques like the Shea Moisture ones. But it works better in my opinion! And now that I’ve recommended this to you, you can stop wasting money fishing around on the market for all different types of curl masques and just try this one (you’re welcome).
