Hello guys! Today I’ve got review of the Chuckling Goat Break-Out Skin Care Toolkit (£19.95). The Break-Out Skin Care Toolkit includes the Break-Out Kefir Lotion, Break-Out Kefir Cleanser and Break-Out Bath Melts. If you haven’t heard of Chuckling Goat it’s a natural skincare line that infuses Live Goats Milk Kefir into it’s products to perfect the skin. Using milk infused skincare products sounded really interesting to me because a lot of people associate dairy with getting breakouts. Elly (hi Elly!) over at Chuckling Goat was kind enough to send me over the Break-Out Skin Care Toolkit to try out*.
So what is Kefir you ask? Chuckling Goat have said;
“Kefir is a live culture fermented milk product, originating in the Black Caucasus Mountains. Our goats milk kefir is made by hand, on the farm, with pasteurised goats milk and live kefir grains.”
Break-Out Kefir Lotion
On it’s own the Chuckling Goat Break-Out Kefir Lotion retails for £7.95. The ingredients include tea tree essential oil, thyme essential oil, goats milk kefir and other natural oils. I’ve spoke about how great tea tree oil and thyme oil are at getting rid of acne and breakouts in previous posts. Whenever my skin is breaking out, I apply this lotion in conjunction with my daily facial oil and it really does help to calm down any inflammation and dry out spots.
This is not an overly drying product and I still find it quite gentle although Chuckling Goat have described it as a Level 3 (Strong) level product. It would be great for teenagers because it is so gentle on the skin but effective at getting rid of breakouts. It’s not heavy or greasy so I can wear this under makeup without any problems. You also can’t beat the price point for a natural and effective spot lotion. This is not as strong as using tea tree oil or thyme oil alone which can sting.
Break-Out Kefir Cleanser
The Chuckling Goat Break-Out Kefir Cleanser retails for £4.95. It is a goats milk soap infused with tea tree oil and thyme oil. This is probably the strongest out of the three products in the toolkit so try not to get this into your eyes because it will sting (trust me).
Having said that this is really effective in getting rid of breakouts. It’s dries out breakouts more effectively than the lotion does and my skin feels super clean after using this. Most of my cleansers are very gentle so this one can tend to feel a little drying to the skin after using it (that squeaky clean feeling) but that’s nothing a little facial oil can’t fix. I use this with my Clarosonic or a konjac sponge when my skin needs clearing up. Because it does such a great job and has amazing antibacterial properties, I also use this to clean my brushes weekly.
A lot of natural cleansers don’t lather up very well but I find that this one lathers up really nicely. It produces enough lather that I can use it to shave my legs. Men could also potentially use this to shave.
However because it is made without any preservatives, I would advise to store this somewhere dry and not just leave it in a puddle of water on the side of your sink to ensure that it lasts longer.
Break-Out Bath Melts
These retail for £7.95 and come in a pack of six. The Break-Out Bath Melts are made up of thyme & tea tree essential oils, coconut oil and cocoa butter. These cute flower shaped bath melts are hand made on a farm. You just drop one in the bath as the bath is running and it melts away. It really makes bath time an experience, leaving me with soft and supple skin. It will leave you with an oily residue because it’s coconut oil based but sometimes it’s nice to nourish your skin with an oil. This absorbs into the skin soon after you’ve stepped out of the bath. You will need to keep theses away from heat or they will melt all over the place.
All of the products in the Break-Out Skin Care Toolkit smelled of tea tree oil which I happen to lurve. Because of the essential oils they would not be suitable for anyone under the age of 12 and probably wouldn’t be great for overly sensitive skin.
Chuckling Goat products are free from any nasty dyes, parabens, phthalates or petrochemicals. The products are affordable and effective. If you purchase the one of the Toolkits, they will come in a very cute packaging (which I could not get photographs of in time because the Bath Melts melted all over it). I believe there are images on the website of the cute ass packaging. The packaging of the toolkit alone made my so excited even before trying anything because you could just tell a lot of love and effort has been put into the brand and the products. I have really enjoyed every part of the Break-Out Skin Care Toolkit and would recommend it to anyone battling acne. The thyme oil in the Break-Out range is proven to be more effective at combatting acne than benzoyl peroxide. However if you have other skin concerns, perhaps take a look at the other toolkits which come in Sensitive, Soothing, Refresh and Calm-Down.
Until next time!
