Hi guys! Today I’m really excited because I didn’t think it was possible to find a natural body powder after I chucked away all my toxic products. I used to love using a talcum powder in summer to keep my body dry and I also used it in my hair as a dry shampoo.
I bought the Dr. Hauschka Silk Body Powder from Love Lula and didn’t really know what to expect when it arrived.
The Silk Body Powder comes in a little metal bottle, almost like a deodorant canister with a silicone lid which I love because that means it’s less likely to slip off and create a mess. This has been so useful because it’s small enough to fit in my handbag and I’ve been really enjoying having this with me on the go on hotter days.
I was half expecting the powder to be really chunky but it’s really finely milled and absorbs into the skin nicely without leaving any streaks. It really helps to keep me dry which is nice because if you use natural deodorants, you know that they allow you to sweat and not everyone likes that wet feeling. This adds an extra barrier meaning you will feel less sweaty and it just adds some extra strength to whichever deodorant you’re using for some extra smell protection.
The ingredients include extracts of sage, rice starch and silk. Sage is a natural deodorant and silk has natural antibacterial properties and is very absorbent – all the makings of a good deodorant. Unfortunately if you’re a vegan you may not want to use this because of the silk.
It costs £22.50 for 50g which I imagine will last a really long time because you really only need to use a small amount. I think it’s worth the money because it works so well and you use so little of it.
Overall I really love this body powder. I’m so happy I can finally use a powder again and don’t have to deal with the feeling of wet underarms when I get hot which is one of the things I’ve really struggled to get used to with natural deodorants. This way I can continue using a natural deodorant and allowing my body to release the toxins it needs to through sweating without actually feeling sweaty.
Until next time!
