Hi guys! I’m back again with another deodorant review – I know I’ve done a few of these but I like to test out as many deodorants as a I can so that you guys have lots of options to choose from. If you haven’t noticed, I’m currently away on holiday in Florida so I picked up Schmidt’s Natural Deodorant from Walmart and I’ve been testing it out during my time here. It’s about 30 degrees celsius here on the daily so this has given me a really good idea of the performance of this deodorant.
So this is a stick form deodorant – it’s the first stick formula I have tried and I ain’t mad at it. It’s essentially like the Hippy Paste (see review here) formula. It’s a solid balm/butter formula and melts into the skin once warmed up. This is a little more difficult to warm up than the Hippy Paste, because with the Hippy Paste you just scoop it out and warm it up with your fingers before applying.
With the Schmidt’s deodorant stick, the instructions advise to hold the product against your skin momentarily to warm up the product before applying it. Maybe my body temperate isn’t warm enough but I find I have to hold the deodorant against my skin for a while before it heats up. And when I apply it I sometimes see parts of the balm on my underarms that haven’t quite melted in – so it looks like I’ve got moisturiser on my underarms that I just haven’t been smoothed in.
It’s not a big problem to be honest and it doesn’t always happen. If it does, I just use my hands to melt it into my pits and we are good to go.
I picked up the Bergamot and Lime scent. Love it- nuff said. Citrus and me go together like cold fruit on a summers day. The ingredients include;
- arrowroot powder
- coconut oil
- candelilla wax
- shea butter
- baking soda
- jojoba seed oil
- bergamot essential oil
- lime essential oil
- vitamin E (sunflower derived)
As you can see from the ingredients, it’s cruelty free and vegan. It’s free of aluminium, propylene glycol and artificial fragrance so it gets a thumbs up from me on the clean factor.
Sometimes I can be a little sensitive towards baking powder, but Schmidt’s seem to have their ratio’s down so I had no irritation with this deodorant.
Ok so imagine, I’m on holiday in Florida, it’s 30 degrees celsius and I’m at Disney land from 10am to 9.30pm and I was smell free all day. I’m not going to lie I had my reservations about this deodorant but it served me well. This lasted me all day without any reapplication throughout the day. There’s nothing more to say really – I was sold.
The performance of this deodorant blew me away. It comes in a few other scents and we can now get this in the UK from Naturisimo. It also comes in a potted formula which I might try out. It is more expensive in the UK. I think I picked it up on sale at Walmart for $9 which is like £7.04 at the moment and Naturismo are selling it for £10 so I’m probably going to stock up whilst I’m still in the States. All in all, this gets my vote. It’s stronger than the Natural Deodorant Company’s Clean Deodorant Balm. I’m not sure if it matches up to the Natural Deodorant Comapany Active Deodorant Balm (which is meant to be long lasting) because I haven’t tried it yet. But this and the Hippy Paste both have really good performance lasting me all day long.
