I’m really excited to bring you my thoughts on The Ordinary Serum Foundation. It’s been talked about all over the internet and I though I’d review it. The ingredients are pretty good and it’s notoriously cheap.
A lot of people are put off getting greener and cleaner makeup and skincare because it can be so expensive but The Ordinary has lots of great products and are really affordable.
The Ordinary Serum Foundation has pretty good ingredients and is far from the worst offender in the realm of foundations.
It retails for under £6 for 30ml of product so it really won’t hurt your pockets. This is especially useful because you might end up ordering more than one shade like myself because you can’t buy these in stores or test them out before buying. As far as I am aware you can only order them online in the UK at the moment.
I ordered shades 2.1Y Medium and 3.0Y Medium Dark. For summer time when I’m tan 2.1Y Medium works well but I reckon I could go a shade lighter in winter, possibly 2.0YG Light Medium. The shade 3.0Y Medium Dark was deffo too dark for me. But like I said, they’re so cheap it didn’t put me out of pocket.
The Serum Foundation is really pigmented but is a really lightweight drippy consistency. Almost like water. But that’s not to say the coverage isn’t good. It dries to a slight satin matte and gives me a natural light – medium coverage. It gives you a really skin like finish. It’s not dewy but it does let your natural skin shine through. Because it’s so lightweight I really love it for hotter days. Doesn’t feel like you’re wearing foundation.
I do like using this with The Ordinary High-Spreadability Fluid Primer. Another affordable product which just helps foundation and any other makeup you’re using glide over the skin without sticking to any patches or gathering in any nooks and crannies (likes the corners of my nose or my smile lines).
I also like mixing this with other foundations or my moisturiser to create a tinted moisturiser.
Overall I think this is a really great summer foundation. It still lets your natural skin shine through but gives your skin a healthy natural finish. It’s really affordable and the ingredients are pretty clean. It’s a perfect started foundation for your clean beauty collection.
Until next time!
