Hi all – quick post on something fun that you can get involved in if you live in an around London! I know the struggle of finding something fun to do with the kids during half term, especially because everything can be so expensive if you’ve got a few kids. Not only that but everything tends to be super busy and it’s usually a nightmare. iCo Green have teamed up with Curio XYZ to bring you an Olive Tree Hunt for London Tree Week.
It’s a little bit like Pokemon Go but think Olive Trees (or if you want to be proper think Olea). Simple download the Curio XYZ app, join the Wheres Olea Mission and start hunting down your closest olive trees.
If you’ve found one that isn’t coming up on the map, you can plot it. Once you find one – take a picture of it or a selfie with it (selfies are highly encouraged) and make sure you hashtag #WheresOlea.
Watch this short video to find out more on how to get involved.
Not only is this a great way to get out of the house, it’s a great way to get the kids into nature. After all it is London Tree Week.
The best bit is that you could WIN A TREE to be planted in your garden or borough! Prizes are going out to the winners of;
The person with the most pictures of Olive Trees
The person with the best selfie with an Olive Tree
The person with the best picture of an Olive Tree
And there is a special entry for schools for best selfie with an Olive Tree (so it might be worth sharing this with your childs school)
Don’t know what an olive tree looks like? Fear not! iCo Green have put together an information sheet so you get an idea of what you’re looking for. But in a nutshell you’re looking for something that looks like this.
The leaves are a greenish grey colour and the underside tends to be white and slightly speckled. They don’t grow very tall in the UK and most of them will be found in peoples front gardens.
So get hunting – perfect way to get out during half term, it’s fun, it’s free and it’s green! Remember that the deadline is the 11th June.
